The 2010 revised addition of Silence in the Sound is to recognize people who are living in the Gulf of Mexico, and the oil spill cleanup workers. On April 20, 2010 the Horizon, a British Petroleum oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico, exploded. The explosion led to the discovery of the huge pipe from one of the drilled wells, gushing crude oil. At first the media was all over the tragic event, then after 3 months, it became old news. The bottom line: The crude oil is toxic, and BP refuses to admit the truth and furnish respirators to the workers. As of this printing, more Americans will become the BP’s Collateral Damaged, like Workers from the Exxon Valdez oil spill. There are now and will continue to be human health issues from exposure to the toxic Gulf crude oil, because the US Government is not demanding that BP furnish respiratiors to workers on the oily beaches.
